Welcome to Weighty Issues

As you may know, we live in a culture which promotes a love/hate relationship with food, with our bodies and ultimately with ourselves. Therefore, we are left feeling out of control with our eating and with our lives. Joyce Sarat White, licensed professional counselor and founder of Weighty Issues, helps clients explore information, challenge beliefs and encourages the reframing of one's relationship to food, to their bodies and to themselves. This blog will provide you with the opportunity to receive support and education. The information is meant to complement, not substitute for professional services. Thank you for visiting, I hope it will become habit forming!

The Power of Gratitude

Everyday, I am grateful and truly blessed for my clients.  They are wonderful people who entrust me with their deepest thoughts and challenges.  I am honored to sit with them in their pain so they can find the answers hidden deep within.

In turn, I was pleasantly surprised and appreciative with the following very kind note from a client. "You really are an exceptional person in the field, because I believe you truly do care about your clients and the work you are doing with them.  You are consistent, supportive, nonjudgemental, focused AND...you have a sense of humor.  As my kids would say, you rock!!  I wholeheartedly and unequivocally recommend you professionally."

And so in the words of Henry Van Dyke, "Gratitude is a twofold love-love coming to visit us, and love running out to greet a welcome guest."
